The IPIC project is an excellent example of turning a designer's concept into reality through Jones' Target Value Design program. Jones was contracted to design and install a decorative, illuminated panel system on the exterior of the IPIC building in Delray Beach, FL.
IPIC's location in Delray Beach meant we had to design a solution that could withstand hurricane-force winds. The challenge was to illuminate the open design of the façade, install the sign in compressed site conditions in an open, public space and to meet a budget that was 30% lower than all other bidders.
We began this project by creating a 3D model and an engineering solution that would allow us to fabricate and install a decorative façade that could withstand extreme hurricane-force wind speeds. Illumination was achieved by lining the entire façade with RGB programmable LEDs. We self-performed the installation with installers working around obstacles that included lane closures, open public spaces, and a small site footprint. Our modular construction approach was used to facilitate installation.
IPIC was a unique and exciting project that we are proud to add to our portfolio. The end result is an illuminated, elegant facade that is eye-catching and much tougher than it looks!
